Job Description

We are looking for an Assistant Product Manager for OnStar Guardian Alternative Mobility, a new business on the Global Innovation Team. In this role, you’ll define the product roadmap and be responsible for the delivery of the features on your roadmap into the OnStar Guardian mobile app and other possible applications. You’ll work closely with a cross-functional team of designers, developers, operations, and marketing to scale the product and to bring the new services and features in your roadmap to market. The role will develop and manage the key performance metrics for the OnStar mobile application to drive quality and efficiency enhancements. This position reports to the Lead Product Manager, OnStar Guardian, Alternative Mobility.

This role will lead a cross functional team of key stakeholders in engineering, IT, product marketing, connected operations, legal, privacy and finance to develop product strategy and roadmaps and lead on execution. This role will have the responsibility of translating new technology and capabilities within the vehicle into breakthrough experiences away from the vehicle and meet customer needs in new ways.

Key Objectives and Responsibilities

  • Interface with Lead Product Manager for OnStar Guardian, Alternative Mobility, the product team, as well as within the larger GM organization - driving key decisions on product features

  • Synthesize multiple data sources such as market research, analytics, customer insights, and others into concise and clear forward-looking strategies required to grow the alternative mobility business and other businesses

  • Create requirements and user stories for product development team to deliver winning products

  • Prioritize creation, enhancement or termination of offering, process or feature within relevant contexts such as improved user experience, platform investment, monetization opportunities, and new business opportunities

  • Manage product throughout the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product features and authoring user stories

  • Define requirements and work closely with product, UX, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and/or customer experience goals are met

  • Assess potential partner relationships for strategic, financial and technical alignment, and work with purchasing to build strong supplier relationships

  • Define the key values and benefits of the product and support core positioning and messaging for Safety and Security services with product and marketing teams

  • Integrate with Engineering teams to both drive needs and requirements into new vehicle capabilities as well as commercialize other engineering-driven innovations that address customer pain points

  • Translate global and regional trends and insights into meaningful product attributes

  • Influence and implement ideas cross-functionally with appropriate level of regionalization

  • Apply comprehensive understanding of business operations in design, planning, marketing, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering and sales

Required Skills/Capabilities :

  • Ability to consolidate multiple sources of disparate information into easy to understand views for senior leadership

  • Customer Focus – ability to gather customer insights and prioritize product features appropriately

  • Human Centered Design - Strong focus on the user, with experience applying Design Thinking principles to product development

  • Collaboration skills – proven experience working in cross functional team to launch programs or products

  • Product management experience

  • Proven capability to develop product roadmap

  • Proven capability to manage product from concept to market launch

  • Ability to influence and implement ideas cross functionally with appropriate level of regionalization

  • Ability to engage with external partners and vendors, assess potential partner strengths and effectively manage strategic relationships with third parties

  • Knowledge of alternative mobility, micro-mobility and telematics trends globally; Knowledge of motorcycle trends globally preferred

  • Ability to translate global and regional trends and insights into meaningful product attributes

  • Familiarity or experience with product lifecycle management

  • Ability to influence and build strong relationships across organization

Degree Requirements :

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline

Masters Degree in Business, Technology Commercialization, or entrepreneurship preferred
