State of the art materials testing, and applied development capabilities were required for execution of advanced/disruptive material technologies.We are seeking a Body Lab Materials Engineer responsible for design, development, testing and control of Body MaterialsLab engineering projects. Perform design analysis with respect to materials and materials processes impact on components and subsystems while exercising technical direction over engineering support personnel. Assist in developing engineering designs, providing materials engineering insight to customers and implement engineering changes through materials laboratory analysis.If you are interested in joining a growing team working with materials engineers, design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and suppliers to solve field problems and enjoy staying abreast of new technology and competitive products, please see additional information below:* Participate in solution of engineering related product problems - root cause* Cooperate with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods improvement, product improvements, and to support build programs* Perform complex diagnostics and problem solving* Review and approves technical engine performance data; initiates reporting to provide engineering authority and to maintain math data* Provide test direction to lab technicians, lead technicians, and supervisors* Maintain diagnostic service documents and "lessons learned" technical memoryAdditional Job DescriptionRequired Qualifications:* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials or Metallurgical preferred; Master's degree desired* 7+ years of experience in laboratory related testing and/or analysis* Knowledge of engineering computer software* Knowledge of and experience in the preparation of metallurgical samples* Performing chemical analysis is desirable, understanding of metallography and metallurgical image analysis* Understanding of cast irons, cast aluminum, wrought aluminum, zinc die-casting, magnesium, stainless steel, copper alloys, brass alloys, polymers, polymer composites, and other materials desirable* Awareness of less common failure analysis mechanisms, such as hydrogen embrittlement, stress corrosion embrittlement, and others* Demonstrated ability to operate complex laboratory test equipment, such as scanning electron microscopes, energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, automated micro-h
