Munson Medical Center Advanced Life Support Coordinator - ACLS/PALS in Traverse City, Michigan
Current American Heart Association ACLS, and PALS instructor status required Current BLS provider status required Advanced EMT, Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist, RN, Physician Assistant or Physician licensure preferred Two or more years of advanced patient care Critical care training preferred Excellent communication skills.
ORGANIZATION Works under the supervision of the manager of Clinical Organizational Learning, the Simulation Lab Coordinator, and the American Heart Association Training Center coordinator. Must maintain a professional working relationship with all other members of the Staff Development and EMS Education departments. Will receive advice and guidance from the American Heart Association Training Center Faculty.

Possess excellent communication and teaching skills.
Provides materials for students and instructors or verifies materials are available from the training center.
Acts as an Advanced Life Support course instructor.
Ensures: a. All AHA course objectives are met according to the current AHA guidelines b. Maintains instructor manuals c. All core course content is taught by instructors in its entirety d. Skills stations are equipped with the educational tools necessary for the student to practice e. Approved course materials are being used by instructors – evaluation forms, scenarios, etc f. Students have ample time to practice skills and are being supervised by instructors who are providing ongoing feedback on competency g. Student to instructor and student to manikin ratios are met as outlined by the instructor manual h. Formal testing with skills sheets is completed for each student i. All written tests are corrected and graded by designated instructors j. Remediation is completed k. Course documentation is submitted the AHA training center in a timely manner and complete. l. Verifies that equipment is set up for skills stations, maintained in good working order, cleaned following the training center guidelines and returned to storage area.
m. Notifies the AHA Training Center coordinator of equipment issues and concerns.
Acts as a coordinator or instructor for at least two advanced courses per year.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
