AECOM Project Cost Analyst in Southfield, Michigan

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Project Cost Analyst to be located in the Southfield, MI (Detroit) office. Under the direction of, and in collaboration with the CIP PMT Program Controls Manager (PMT PCM), the Project Cost Analyst leads and manages the development, maintenance and reporting of the Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) Master Budget, as defined in CIP Program Procedures Manual 11 (PPM11). Key roles and responsibilities include:

Budget Management:

  • Program WBS structure development and maintenance, including ensuring the CIP Master Budget includes pertinent summaries of the budget and progress for each project in the CIP Program

  • Develops and Maintains the CIP Cost Database in PRISM G2

  • Maintains log of project budget changes

  • Coordinates with CIP PMT Program Schedule Manager to ensure the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), maintained by the CIP PMT Program Schedule Manager in Primavera P6 (P6), including:

  • Update cost loading reflecting actual progress and latest forecasts.

  • Responsible for establishing baseline project budgets and for managing baseline budget change management process.

  • Uses summary-level project information provided by Project Managers (PM), Design Consultants (DC) and Construction Contractors (CC) to accrue each month for costs prior to invoices being received.

  • Update project data in PMIS

  • Coordinate with CM and Contractors for project budget updates in construction.

Cost Management:

  • Supports PMT PCM in obtaining, reviewing, vetting and updating project costs, and reflecting same in CIP Master Budget

  • Maintains budgetary crosswalk between project costs and GLWA’s Accounting system.

  • Supports PMT PCM in periodically reconciling CIP Master Budget and P6 cost data to GLWA’s Accounting system

  • Manages the CIP Program’s Baseline budget change process.

Reporting:

  • Assist PMT PCM in producing program monthly progress report and ad-hoc reports.

  • Produce and maintain CIP monthly cashflow and variance report

  • Work with others to support PMIS dashboard reporting and produce the data required to sustain such reporting.

  • Supports PMT PCM in preparing program expenditure forecasts

Administrative functions:

  • Be cross-trained and provide gap support for select CIP PMT administrative roles when dedicated administrative staffs are on leave.

  • Performa administrative tasks on an ad-hoc-basis, including:

  • Periodic reviews and updating of key program documents, such as the Program Management Plan (PMP), Design Manual, etc.

Project Procedures:

  • Develops program-level procedures for program budget management functions, including periodical review and updates of the PPM as required.

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + 8 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, engineering, or construction

  • 10+ years of experience working in a project and/or program environment, with preference for experience with water

  • 10+ years’ experience in project budget management and wastewater infrastructure project delivery.

  • Verifiable experience balancing project needs in a consulting environment.

  • Experience in assurances (risk management, contracting, insurances, etc.).

  • Advanced-level MS Excel capabilities, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, charting, and external data queries

  • Strong understanding of Primavera P6, and overall scheduling methodology

  • Basic understanding of SharePoint

  • Experience with PRISM G2 a plus
