Eaton Corporation Lead Systems Engineer in Southfield, Michigan

Eaton’s Vehicle Group is looking to hire a Lead Systems Engineer for our Southfield MI location.

Primary function:

This position is part of a team developing eMobility systems solutions. As a member of the team, you will help define requirements, contribute to definition of hardware designs, generate xEV system solutions and models, define test plans and perform validation testing to confirm that system and functional requirements are met. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for working with their engineering manager to achieve the desired results. Achieving the desired results will require individual contributions as well as contributions attained as part of a team. You will work closely with engineers located in various locations in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

In this role you will:

  • Contribute energy efficiency and performance strategies and perform physical modeling. Use simulation tools to efficiently perform design iterations and optimization.

  • Utilize problem solving skills to improve system performance and reliability of the EV system.

  • Contribute to continued enhancement of architecture to support additional product features.

  • Analyze vehicle data from test and customer vehicles to investigate, identify and resolve issues and performance complaints.

  • Support prototype and production OEM vehicle integration and development efforts.

    Qualifications

    Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field from an accredited institution

  • 7+ years of relevant automotive/commercial vehicle experience

  • Basic understanding of vehicle drivetrain/powertrain systems.

  • Strong project management skills to assess task effort and priorities

  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate geographical area (50 miles) from Southfield, MI will be considered for this position.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering from an accredited institution

  • 2+ years of Customer interfacing experience

  • Experience with Vector tools such as CANape and CANalyzer

  • Experience in calibration tuning of systems.

  • Experience with vehicle CAN networks

  • Experience with SysML tools such as IBM Rhapsody

  • CRETA or other Calibration tools

  • MATLAB / Simulink

    Position Criteria

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills in software, mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Strong communication skills with ability to interface directly with external partners, suppliers, and both internal and external customers.

  • Ability to work with a teams and customers located globally.
