div spanbspanGeneral Summary: /span/bspanUnder moderate direction, spanreviews and interprets medical record documentation for outpatient surgeries, medical observations and other outpatient services. Assigns/span diagnostic and/or procedural codes, and abstracts case information for reimbursement, research, and planning purposes.span /spanEnsures that all codes assigned are supported by sufficient documentation, and are based on official coding and reporting guidelines./spanbspan/span/bbspanEssential Duties:/span/bspanspan /spanb/b/spanspanspan1.span /span/span/spanspanReviews and interprets medical record documentation for either concurrent or discharged cases, and assigns accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes in accordance with coding guidelines and regulatory requirements to ensure appropriate reimbursement for services provided.span /span/spanspanspan2.span /span/span/spanspanAccurately abstracts medical record information for reimbursement, research, and planning purposes./spanspanspan3.span /span/span/spanspanCreates meaningful, compliant queries to physicians for clarification of inconsistent, ambiguous, or nonspecific medical record documentation./spanspanspan4.span /span/span/spanspanAttends meetings with spanphysicians and other /spanclinical staff as requested./spanspanspan5.span /span/span/spanspanAssists and educates physicians and other clinicians on proper documentation practices./spanspanspan6.span /span/span/spanspanServes as a resource for coding related issues./spanbspan /span/bbspanStandard Qualifications:/span/bspanspan*span /span/span/spanspanAssociates or bachelor's degree in health information management.span/span/spanspanspan*span /span/span/spanspanspan /spanICD-10 and/or CPT coding experience preferred./spanspanspan*span /span/span/spanspanRHIA, RHIT, or RHIT eligible a" must obtain the accreditation within six months of employment./span/span div /div /divBR/Beaumont Health is an equal opportunity employer.
