Huron-Clinton Metroparks PSA Public Safety Attendent (Part Time) - Eastern District in Shelby Township, Michigan
The Metroparks are accepting applications to fill openings for Public Safety Attendants (PSA). Applicants will have the opportunity to work in the Eastern District: (Lake St. Clair, Stony Creek and Wolcott Mill) - You must be able to work 5 days out of the week including weekends and holidays. There will be day, afternoon and evening shifts available. Applicants will work primarily with the Police Department and assist the Park Operations Department. You are expected to address an array of situations that may arise when dealing with park patrons. This is an opportunity to enhance and develop oneself when working with and servicing people.
TYPICAL DUTIES: The duties listed below are intended to describe the general nature of duties only. Employees will perform other duties as assigned.
Direct traffic and monitor parking on park property.
Answer questions and give directions to park visitors.
Advises park visitors of the park rules and regulations relating to park usage.
Addresses park vehicle entry concerns.
Patrols hike/bike trails/beaches/disc golf/piers/etc. utilizing park equipment i.e., bicycle, moped, golf cart, motor vehicle.
Keeps patrons informed of any emergency concerns or hazards.
Works to help keep the maintenance of the parks beautiful.
Works hand-in-hand with the Police Department.
Ability to get along with co-workers, supervisors and park visitors.
Must have valid Michigan Drivers License and clean driving record.
Ability to operate safely a bicycle, moped or other type of motorized vehicle.
Ability to distinguish letters and symbols.
Ability to communicate clear and concise information via radio, phone and/or face to face.
Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
Ability to traverse sandy, marshy and wooded areas with even and uneven terrain.
Ability to work with the Police Department and all Park Staff.
