divGENERAL SUMMARY:The staff Radiologic OR Technologist is specially trained to work in the Operating Room using mobile fluoroscopic equipment. Technologists must operate equipment within a sterile environment to assist in surgical procedures accurately and efficiently. They must demonstrate a high level of critical thinking and image evaluation to obtain specialized and/or non-standard views of patient anatomy for surgical procedures with minimal direction. Follows Beaumont philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care at all times.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:ullidivPerforms quality diagnostic exams after verification of patient identification and physician order./div/lilidivProficiently operates diagnostic imaging equipment within the operating suite./div/lilidivMust be cognizant of the sterile field at all times, including keeping the imaging equipment sterile with movement required for the surgical procedure./div/lilidivMust be intuitive, anticipating the needs of the surgeon to help reduce surgical times./div/lilidivMust assist the surgeon in vital decision-making processes, such as but not limited to the positioning of surgical markers to verify spinal levels and to adjust imaging equipment according to the needs of the surgeon./div/lilidivUses ALARA standards for minimizing radiation exposure to the patient, staff in the OR room and self./div/lilidivMonitors patients during procedures to ensure patient safety./div/lilidivContributes to the effective operations of the department by assisting fellow employees and staying in compliance with quality assurance and quality control./div/lilidivAbility to accurately and efficiently use hospital computer systems for verifying orders, viewing schedules and sending information to PACS./div/lilidivAssists in the training of students/new hires./div/lilidivEnsures equipment is wiped down between patients./div/lilidivMaintains competency in all assigned areas including fluoroscopic, general diagnostic, orthopedic and operating procedures./div/lilidivEffectively communicates on an inter/intra-departmental level with customer service, administrative, medical staff, and peers./div/li/ulSTANDARD QUALIFICATIONSGraduate of Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Accredited Radiography program.Training gained at student level.Certification by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; Must remain in good standing with the ARRT.ullidivBasic Life Support Certification for Healthcare Providers from The American Heart Association at hire./div/lilidivSpecialized knowledge of multiple surgical procedures requiring the proper use of C-arms, O-arms, digital plain film x-rays, and specialized vascular equipment./div/lilidivMust operate within high stress, fast paced atmosphere presented in the OR./div/li/ulThe staff Radiologic OR Technologist is specially trained to work in the Operating Room using mobile fluoroscopic equipment.
