div spanbspanGENERAL SUMMARY: /span/bspan/spanspanThe position will provide technical expertise in matters relating to the acquisition, operation, institution and quality control of instruments and methods used in the performance of routine, stat and specialty testing in Clinical Chemistry. Clinical Chemistry at Beaumont encompasses chemistry, immunology, toxicology/therapeutic drug monitoring and urinalysis testing. Responsibilities are shared with other clinical chemists and pathologists./spanbspan/span/bspan/spanbspanESSENTIAL DUTIES:/span/bspan span/span/spanspan/spanspanspan1.span /span/span/spanspanSelects, evaluates and institutes the use of new methods and equipment. Includes determining alternatives, review and interpretation of data, cost analysis, establishing reference ranges. /spanspanspan2.span /span/span/spanspanInvestigates and resolves problems with equipment, test procedures, systems of operation within the laboratory./spanspanspan3.span /span/span/spanspanProvides support for interpreting test results and information on testing available in the section./spanspanspan4.span /span/span/spanspanEstablishes and monitors quality control procedures and quality assurance practices and participates in training and competency assessment./spanspanspan5.span /span/span/spanspanParticipates in the development of long-range plans, performance objectives and standards for the section, including policies and protocols for complying with regulatory and certification requirements of CLIA'88, CAP and Joint Commission./spanspanspan6.span /span/span/spanspanParticipates in training programs for Clinical Pathology residents, fellows, medical technologists and medical laboratory technicians and in continuing education programs for departmental personnel and medical staff./spanspanspan7.span /span/span/spanspanSupports the integrated strategies for undergraduate, graduate, continuing medical education, and research based on the priorities and standards endorsed by the Chief Academic Officer and the Dean of Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. /spanispanThis document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions.
