What you will be able to do

Working at the Michigan Proving Ground in Romeo, Michigan, you will put our best-in-class products to the test. This key position involves both leadership and hands-on responsibilities as you setup, operate and manage our autonomous test vehicles. You will:

  • Manually drive vehicles to support proving ground test procedures

  • Operate and choreograph autonomous vehicles

  • Monitor autonomous vehicle pathing, cameras and error messaging

  • Complete autonomous vehicle transmission, brake and throttle controls tuning

  • Help set up and tear down autonomous test equipment

  • Maintain and perform daily inspections of autonomous equipment

  • Observe and report functional performance and features

  • Position vehicles for testing, fueling and functional support

  • Install and remove all hardware related to autonomous testing

  • Diagnose and trouble shoot all mechanical and electrical issues (e.g., actuators, linkages, radios, GPS, network communication, etc.)

  • Perform daily autonomous vehicle safety inspections

  • Manage and direct autonomous support personnel

  • Lead implementation of autonomous corrective actions

  • Communicate testing status, issues and issue resolution from shift to shift

  • Provide first level of electrical and mechanical diagnostics and problem solving

  • Support autonomous training requirements

  • Generate daily and monthly operational metrics and reports

The minimum requirements we seek

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid and unrestricted Michigan Driver’s license – will be required to obtain Chauffer’s endorsement prior to accepting an offer

  • Five or more years of driving experience

  • At least two years of experience in proving ground testing

  • Ability to work a 12-hour shift pattern as well as overnight shifts

  • Ability to work in inclement weather

Our preferred requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • ASC certified mechanic or equivalent experience

  • Proven mechanical and electrical diagnostics skills

  • Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Background in the installation, troubleshooting and repair of data acquisition systems

  • One or more years of experience driving a manual shift transmission

  • One plus year of trail towing experience

  • MS Office proficiency

  • Aptitude to learn new software applications
