United Shore Payroll Specialist in Pontiac, Michigan

The Payroll Specialist performs payroll, accounting, and administrative duties to support the team including processing payroll, setting up voluntary deductions, processing and auditing payroll, creating and reviewing audit reports and resolving any issues that may arise. This position will also be required to process a monthly commissioned based payroll in addition to the bi-weekly payments.

  • Reviewing, analyzing and checking payroll forms and report for accuracy and making necessary adjustments or corrections.

  • Setting up and reconciling voluntary payroll deductions, preparing reports, identifying and researching exceptions

  • Processing garnishments which include child support, tax levies, student loans, etc.

  • Managing work-flow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely

  • Researching, analyzing and resolving payroll-related problems or questions

  • Recommending or participating in the development of new procedures and policies related to payroll operations utilizing knowledge of the company, state and federal policies and regulations

  • Compiling payroll reports for both internal and external purpose; submitting to supervisor for review

  • Conducting training sessions to explain payroll policies and procedures

  • Performing compliances for unclaimed property and payroll checks

  • Processing and maintaining W-4 tax data and changes in personal data

  • Ensuring the compliance of all required entities as well as company policies; identifying financial risks within the department; and financial reporting.

  • Collaborating with Payroll leader on process improvements and efficiencies.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Finance, Accounting and/or equivalent practical experience.

  • 1-3 years of professional HR experience using various payroll databases and software

  • Working knowledge of MS Office

  • Proficient in Excel spreadsheets

  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail

  • Ability to multitask effectively
