Employees in this job provide consultation to nursing and health care providers in the public and private sector to improve nursing and other health care programs, practices, and standards. This candidate should have a strong theoretical and practical knowledgebase in the implementation of infection control policies and practices in healthcare settings not limited to surveillance and reporting, training of staff, maintaining the environment of care, cleaning and disinfection, occupational health, and facility and professional licensure.Duties and Responsibilities:and#8226;Plans, implements, and evaluates health programs in conjunction with public or private community health agencies including community-based agencies.and#8226;Develops criteria for and conducts on-site reviews of public or private health programs to collect and analyze information necessary to evaluate population health programs.and#8226;Establishes contacts and meets with public, private and community-based agencies to assist in designing preventive health programs and procedures.and#8226;Develops and interprets rules, policies, and procedures related to health programs and services for implementation by public or private population health agencies including community-based organizations and health provider agencies.and#8226;Develops criteria for the evaluation of state and local health program services and conducts evaluations in cooperation with program staff.and#8226;Designs and implements health education and training programs for public and private health agencies and personnel to improve population health.and#8226;Applies and implements strategies for continuous quality improvement in program design and implementation.and#8226;Serves as an expert resource to other professionals and management in nursing and health care program planning, development, and implementation.and#8226;Conducts inspections of nursing and health care facilities and other congregate settings in person or reviews medical and other pertinent records and specific health care facility layout and environmental conditions; observes nursing and related practices for conformance with standards and regulations.and#8226;Develops, implements, and assesses infection control policies and procedures.and#8226;Develops and directs on-going infection control surveillance activities.and#8226;Collects data from patients' records and reports incidents of infections, which will be used by the medical staff for epidemiological analysis.and#8226;Represents the best interest of MDHHS and MPHI at all times.and#8226;Other duties as assigned.Qualifications/Requirements:Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, or another health-related field. Certification in Infection Control desired.
