Dowhas an exciting opportunity for aProcess Automation ABB Applications Team Developer. The preferred location isMidland, MI, United States,but other Global Dow locations would be considered. The ABB Applications Team develops and maintains Dow and ABB commercial Object Type Library Most Effective Technology (MET) solutions, provides implementation standards and tools to support capital projects and MOD5migrations, and helps lead global technology projects using the ABB 800xA product. The team drives and supports MET solutions through standards and tools for efficient and cost effective development and configuration of process automation solutions.

The members form a small self-empowered team with global impact and responsibilities.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Leading or consulting global ABB process automation technology development projects, including:

  • Dow Legacy MOD5 to ABB migration

  • New ABB product features for use in Dow

  • Participating and building requirements and solution consensus with:

  • Process Automation Project Implementation and Application Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)

  • ABB Applications Technical Solutions Team

  • Process Automation Safety Instrumented Systems ABB Safety team

  • MOD5 Migration Forward Engineering Team

  • Device Integration Technical Solutions Team

  • Control Systems Platform Technical Solutions Team

  • Providing technical consulting and support to:

  • Plant and capital projects

  • MOD5 Migration projects

  • Plant and project product upgrades

  • Automation Platform Support and Sustain teams

  • Process Automation Leadership team

  • Designing, developing, testing, delivering, and supporting:

  • Dow MET object type solution libraries for the ABB platform

  • Human Machine Interface (HMI) graphic components for all library object type solutions

  • Library references and best practices documentation

  • Work process, tools, documentation, and examples to standardize project implementations

  • MOD5 Migration Forward Engineering library references and tools

  • Library installation packages required for ABB product updates

  • Early implementations of new tools and work processes.

  • Working with ABB for product fixes, improvements, future enhancements and partner projects.

  • Providing library updates and validation testing for new product releases from ABB.

  • Managing the Software Product Request (SPR) process for Global MET libraries and tools

  • Providing Level 3 support to plants and projects using ABB 800xA solutions, including participation in plant Process Automation incident investigations

  • Managing product life cycle and obsolescence issues

This job has a strong emphasis on project leadership, Process Automation development and Information Technology skills, technical problem solving abilities, and hands on technical work.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or other a technical field is required.

  • A minimum of two years’ experience with ABB 800xA system applications and development is required.

  • For U.S. or Canada Applicants Only:A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the United States or Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Dow ABB implementation is preferred.

  • Technical experience in: Unit (state) based Process Automation expertise for developing global solutions using ABB 800xA languages, libraries and graphic tools, including safety instrumented systems and advanced analog control.

  • Experience in ABB 800xA Control Builder/Process Portal A.

  • Experience in Extensive implementation experience with Dow MET DPA Libraries and 800xA Standard Libraries 800xA Library creation, delivery and maintenance.

  • 800xA System creation, troubleshooting and maintenance experience.

  • Microsoft Office proficiency including Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) for Microsoft Excel.

  • Overall troubleshooting knowledge of 800xA, examples include OPC, Native Language support (NLS), versioning, Load-Evaluate-Go and product kit creation.
