This IMS role serves as the managing editor and web master for Dow’s Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) websites, including the global and regional sites. This role with work with other colleagues to support and maintain these sites including content, design, and development of existing and new capabilities. This role is responsible for overseeing and managing these client/customer facing, multi-tenant, and content rich intranet sites. These sites contain hundreds to thousands of pages of content. This role integrates and maintains this content from complex, varied, and sometimes conflicting sources.

The main focus for this Information Management Specialist (IMS) position is managing intranet sites for our Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) function. These sites provide Dow employees with the information and tools to perform their jobs.

A skilled technical writer with strong web development skills or an IT web developer with strong writing skills would be an excellent fit for this role.

This IMS role serves as the managing editor and web master for large, highly visible, heavily utilized Dow intranet and extranet web sites, specifically related to our EH&S environment. It oversees and manages these client/customer facing, multi-tenant, and content rich intranet sites. These sites contain hundreds to thousands of pages of content. This role integrates and maintains this content from complex, varied, and sometimes conflicting sources.

The IMS partners with leadership, content owners, SMEs, web developers, and other consultants (e.g., EUD, Public Affairs, I/S, external agencies, etc.). They create/maintain content, enforce the protection of intellectual property, governance, compliance, and meet changing information management (IM) objectives. The IMS also collaborates with other Information Management Specialists to share knowledge and leverage common solutions and best practices. They drive, influence, and advise on both the development of and compliance with IM standards, policies, and strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Know the inventory of the sites/repositories in their area of responsibility

  • Learn and master a number of IM tools and technologies. (E.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.)

  • Develop partnership networks within their functional organization

  • Continuously build a depth and breadth of knowledge within their functional area (e.g., EH&S)

  • Implement solutions with content providers, web developers, and other consultants

  • Manage, write, and edit web site content to maximize ease of use and bring benefit to the organization

  • Partner with content owners and SME’s to implement new and maintain existing intranet content

  • Conduct intranet site usability tests, identifying issues, and taking steps to resolution

  • Sustain site content effectiveness through solid change management processes

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in technical writing or I/T web development; Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Well versed in web development tools such as HTML, CSS, .asp, etc.

  • Oral and written communication skills are essential

  • Knowledge of Visual Studio, Expression Web, and other web development tools are preferred but not required
