Mercy Medical Center Clinton Nurse Manager- Med Surg in Mercy Health West Michigan Hospital Campus - Muskegon, Michigan
Position Title- Nurse Manager, Med Surg Position Summary: Reporting to a Director responsible for a group of Clinical Services for the hospital site and with/through subordinate personnel, assumes management responsibility for a single major (or multiple smaller) function(s), service(s) or process(es) that provides support to clinical operations. Provides 24-hour accountability for patient care delivery, planning, and evaluation of services for one or more clinical areas and staff performance. Initiates, facilitates, and supports communication among a variety of health care providers and with various external agencies. Requires a high level of independent judgment and substantial latitude for independent action. What the Nurse Manager will need:
Associates degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree desired.
Nursing Area: Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Michigan
3-5 years clinical experience. Previous positions should include successive levels of increased responsibility
Two years prior supervisory or manager experience and five years of clinical experience in similar areas What the Nurse Manager will do:
Specifically, the position identifies the need for policy development and/or revision, defines policies in collaboration with higher-level management input, goals and objectives.
Identifies the need for and drafts or defines procedures/protocols in collaboration with higher management input, goals and objectives; modifies procedures/protocols, as necessary. Monitors the quality and quantity of workflow to ensure work is completed.
Initiates or recommends personnel actions such as hires, fires and disciplines.
Completes performance appraisals.
Develops daily, monthly and/or yearly goals and measures and assists in developing and monitoring budget for single or multiple, closely related fields, areas or processes and, as requested, assists in assessment of goal attainment.
