Position Title: Clinical Service Director- Oncology

  • Inpatient & Outpatient Oncology

  • Infusion Services

  • Radiation Oncology

  • Palliative Care Program

  • Bariatrics Program

  • Comprehensive Breast Center and Boutique

  • Team of 145 FTEs, 5 Managers, 2 Supervisors

Position Summary:

Directs and coordinates functions in defined clinical service area(s) to ensure quality clinical care in accordance with Saint Mary’s and Trinity Health’s mission, vision, goals and objectives. Directs the systems and processes for delivering care for defined patient populations within clinical service, including the operation of inpatient units associated with the assigned clinical services. Evaluates the effectiveness of care to patients and enhances services to meet the needs of the community.

What the Clinical Service Director will need:

  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing or related field.

  • Director experience strongly preferred (Admin, Executive, Nursing, etc.)

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan

  • Five years of direct clinical experience in the service lines involved with 3 years progressive management/leadership experience in an acute care environment or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills including staff development, planning, organizing, implementing, evaluation, and maintenance of programs, projects and business operations

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, evaluate and problem solve effectively; demonstrated familiarity with the application of computers in data analysis and budget management, and use of data based decision making methodologies

What the Clinical Service Director will do:

  • Ensures the clinical service operates within budget and in accordance with performance standards.

  • Maintains responsibility and accountability for quality care in a cost-effective manner, compatible with recommendations from accrediting agencies.

  • Full complement of management responsibilities including; short and long-term planning and development, human resource management, managing and developing physician relationships, financial accountability, quality assessment and improvement, regulatory compliance, productivity management, operational excellence and assuring consistency with the organizational and health system strategic plans.

  • This position holds responsibility for using a collaborative approach to setting strategic direction, development of new services, service line growth, and marketing of assigned clinical services.
