Student Employee - PC Technician
Description
PC Technicians are primarily responsible for the preparation, installation, and general maintenance of the college's desktop personal computers and laptops. The college has over 5,300 desktop computers in various locations across all campuses, including the Computer Lab, multi-PC classrooms, LCC Library, instructor stations and staff/faculty workstations. PC Techs prepare system images for deployment across campus, regularly install approved software applications and upgrade desktop computers when they have reached end-of-life. Additional responsibilities include making sure that classrooms are ready for each semester by providing updated and relevant software distributions, in addition to responding to emergency service request incidents on-campus.
Must have excellent communication skills (verbal/interpersonal/written)
Must be able to work in a team environment
Exceptional customer service understanding when troubleshooting/diagnosing service requests
Computer skills (there will be on the job training)
Preference given to those students who are following a technical curriculum/program at LCC
Education and Experience
The following requirements apply each semester, in order to maintain eligibility and continue working as a student employee:
Enrolled & actively attending is required to maintain employment eligibility (i.e. minimum LCC credit hours by semester):
Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 6.0 credits
Summer Semester = 3.0 credits
International students with an F-1 visa and valid I-20 issued by LCC must meet the following minimum enrollment/credit requirements each semester, in order to maintain employment eligibility per United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USICS) regulations:
Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 12.0 credits
Summer Semester = 3.0 credits
Minimum 2.0 GPA or have approval to waive requirement unless it is the student’s first semester of enrollment at LCC
Must be at least 18 years of age and/or a high school graduate who is at least 17 with a valid, signed work permit
Hours per Week: Up to 25 Hours
Hourly Wage: $9.60
