General Electric Grand Rapids Electronic Inspector 1 in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Role Summary:

The primary function of this job is to perform inspections of electronic circuit card assemblies, electro-magnetic assemblies, precision gyro component assemblies, and completed products prior to shipment.

Essential Responsibilities:

Conduct random audits of other Manufacturing assembly operators to verify compliance to work instructions and quality of product; and to communicate and interact effectively with all operating departments within the Company and with customers.


High School Diploma / GED.

Job requires, as a minimum, solder certification to IPC-610 to enter and to remain in the job classification.

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Desired Characteristics:

Prior certification to a DOD or International soldering specification such as Mil-Std-2000 is preferred.

Job also requires close attention to detail; the ability to work under microscopes for long periods of time; the ability to read and work from blueprints and manufacturing assembly work instructions; the ability to recognize correct electronic and/or mechanical components; and a working knowledge of the various types of electronic and mechanical inspection equipment used to check product quality.

Must have basic computer skills within a current Windows environment.

Must be able to use hand tools, continuity meters, hi-pot testers, calipers, various types of gauges and microscopes.
