Overview

The Divisional Worship Arts Director (DWAD) provides support, resources and administration of divisional music, worship, media and creative arts programs at corps, divisional and territorial levels.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and serves on all divisional committees pertaining to worship arts and their scheduling in the divisional calendar

  • Provides camp management oversight including staff assignments, curriculum, schedules, manuals, publicity, promotion, organization and planning committee

  • Coordinates and manages Divisional Worship Arts School

  • Provides leadership and organization of divisional worship arts groups;

  • acts as Bandmaster of divisional band and/or divisional youth band,

  • leader of divisional chorus and/or divisional youth chorus

  • Plans and implements regularly scheduled leadership seminarsworkshops and institutes on a corps, regional, or divisional level

  • Disseminates information and resources for the development, promotion and publicity of worship arts programs

  • Coordinates ensembles for public events within the division

  • Creates, submits and adheres to department budgets, regularly reviewing the progress, activities and effectiveness of corps worship arts groups

  • Help produce worship media resources to support corps and division

  • Gives oversight to the use of divisional audio/visual equipment, keeping an inventory, purchasing supplies and coordinating repairs

  • Consults with corps on their audio/visual needs and assists in preparing bids for purchases

  • Resources corps when equipment needs set up or updating

  • Acts as divisional resource person for live stream worship coordination and production

  • Provides camp management oversight including staff assignments, curriculum, schedules, manuals, publicity, promotion, organization and planning committee

  • Coordinates and manages Divisional Worship Arts School

Qualifications

  • A Christian committed to the doctrines and practices of The Salvation Army

  • A uniform wearing Salvationist in good standing

  • An experienced musician with a successful record of leading, teaching and developing musicians

  • Bachelor’s degree in music education or performance

  • Minimum three years of experience in music instruction and creative arts or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

  • Provide effective leadership with all age groups

  • Acceptable driving record and ability
