Spectrum Health Cook 360 Lafayette Day Part Time in GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan

Position SummaryPerforms hot food preparation including frying, baking, broiling, braising and grilling. Prepares soups, cereals, eggs, entrees, vegetables, and other food items as necessary. Monitors food quantity needs as customer counts or volumes vary.and#183; Assembles and prepares ingredients for cooking by cleaning and cutting.and#183; Follows standardized recipes, calculating ingredients based on weight and volume.and#183; Monitors food quality, assesses food presentation in regards to taste, texture and eye appeal and maintains food temperatures.and#183; Records temperatures correctly on temperature log sheets. Takes responsibility to replace food items that do not fit our standards.and#183; Stores food items as required, labeling and dating items per standards. Appropriately utilizes leftovers within allotted time.and#183; Sets up steam tables on patient and cafeteria tray lines.and#183; Communicates with other staff members to ensure continuity and coordination of services.and#160;Additionaland#183; Assists with meal selection utilizing appropriate menu program while stressing appropriate restrictions and good nutrition. May verbally state diet ordersand#183; Assembles patient meal plates and drinks using two identifiers and sanitation. May screen diet order for accuracy.and#183; Communicates with patient/family member and members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Confers with the dietitian regarding special patient needs and requests as needed.and#183; Educates families in and#8220;Food worksand#8221; protocols, and prepping various food textures that are appropriate for their particular patient.and#183; Participates in interdisciplinary team conferences including care conferences.and#183; Documents care and teaching and#8220;Food worksand#8221;, consistent with documentation guidelines and standardsand#183; Communicates with other members of the healthcare team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.and#183; Ensures that processes and services are continuously monitored for quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency. Engages in process and quality improvement activities. Makes and implements recommendations to improve operation efficiency and to implement new services for areas of responsibility. Basic Qualifications: Education - High School Degree equivalent Experience - 2 years of relevant experience in Food service or equivalent experience Licenses - ServSafe Allergen Certification 90 Days ServSafe Food Handler Certification 90 Days Or ServSafe Manager Certification 90 Days Preferred Qualifications: Education - Vocational courses in food preparation Experience - A course of sixteen weeks to one year in baking education and cake decorating techniques
