Serve primarily as a mechanical gear engineer on items related to design and analysis of new and current products, reliability and warranty analysis, failure analysis, VAVE, Cost-out, supplier technical interactions, change control (design and process risk assessment), manufacturing, and testing. Work with and lead cross-functional teams, across several Vehicle Group product platforms.

• Drive the Eaton Business System processes that apply to assigned projects.

• Review and reports on quality metrics and/or test results through engineering reports and written correspondence to ensure timely and effective communication with managers and peers.

• Provide design and related manufacturing process recommendations to improve quality, performance, cost reduction, product reliability, and/or standardization through analysis of designs and problem solving techniques.

• Lead the creation, implementation, and administration of vehicle group policies, procedures, and work instructions.

• Incorporate processes and process improvements to area of expertise to aide in time to market.

• Utilize the engineering Maturity Model concept to drive personal and regional process and knowledge development.

• Interpret design, development, and failure analysis through assigned engineering projects.

• Apply fundamental engineering practices and decision making for problem solving.

• Suggest alternative or novel methodologies or techniques to achieving desired results.

• Serve as a consultant to others as assigned, providing technical information and engineering recommendations that assist with various projects and training purposes.

• Serve as point of Contact with Universities with respect to a specific product / technology.

  Qualifications

Required Experience/Skills: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a directly related field plus one (1) year of industry experience or related university experience. Experience must include:

One (1) year of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

• System interaction analysis

• Technical report writing

• Specification Creation, Standard Work document creation and/or external publication writing

• Technology exploration: Design of Experiment, Testing and/or Research and Development

• Parallel axis gear design software including Windows LDP and Spline LDP

• MS Office suite, engineering CAD software including AUTOCAD or UG NX

• DoE tools including JMP or Minitab

• Demonstrated knowledge of GD&T requirements

• Utilization of MATLAB, Python and FEM Software

• 10-20% travel, domestic and international for meetings.

40 hours per week. 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.
