h3Working/Functional Title/h3 Academic Specialist-Research Program Coordinator h3Position Summary/h3 The Department of Fisheries and Wildlife in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Michigan State University seeks an Academic Specialist and#8211; Research to fill the Research Program Coordinator position within the Data-Intensive Landscape Limnology Lab (a href="www.bigdatalimno.org"www.bigdatalimno.org/a). This is a full-time 12-month position with an initial appointment period of 1 year. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with outstanding organizational skills, experience mentoring and supervising others, demonstrated commitment to advancing inclusive excellence, and a track record of success throughout the entire research cycle (i.e., from idea generation and grant writing to results dissemination). This position works to advance the Data-Intensive Landscape Limnology Lab through research administration (50%), human resource (20%), and scholarly (30%) activities. The successful candidate will join the Data-Intensive Landscape Limnology Lab at MSU, which includes staff members, postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers working both independently and as part of two NSF-funded research teams. The first project, A Macrosystems Ecology Framework for Continental-scale Prediction and Understanding of Lakes, uses data-intensive science approaches to examine lake water quality relationships with land use/cover and climate (a href="www.lagoslakes.org"www.lagoslakes.org/a). The second project, The Influence of an Inclusive Climate on Early-Career Outcomes, uses quantitative social science approaches to understand factors limiting underrepresented scholars in academic STEM (ee-stem.weebly.com/climbs-up.html). The successful candidate will work closely with, and report to, Dr. Kendra Spence Cheruvelil, who leads these interdisciplinary and multi-institutional projects at MSU. The primary responsibility of the Coordinator will be to conduct administrative, human resource, and scholarly activities to advance the Data-Intensive Landscape Limnology Lab. The Coordinator will have a successful track record of ecological or environmental science research, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and mentoring a diversity of people.
