h3Working/Functional Title/h3 SANE Nurse h3Position Summary/h3 The Sexual Assault Healthcare Program Nurse Examiner will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to sexual assault patients. This will include a forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, photographic documentation, referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, support and participation in legal proceedings.and#160; type="disc" liCompletes competency checklist while being observed by an experienced SANE/li liProvides direct medical-forensic care for patients presenting following sexual assault from the MSU community and the three surrounding counties (Ingham, Eaton and Clinton)/li liProvides comprehensive clinical care including repeat physical assessments, immunizations, medication administration, and photo documentation, as appropriate/li liFollows policies, procedures and protocols for the program/li liParticipates in program staff meetings/li liAssists with routine clinic maintenance, such as stocking of clinic supplies and scheduling/li liParticipates in quality measures, including peer review, continuing education, and orienting and precepting new team members/li liAssists with billing for individual exams/li liAssists with other operational duties as delegated by the Medical Director/li li24 hours of continuing education annually, including 4 hours regarding the issues of sexual assault medical-forensic examinations/li liMaintains close working relationship with SANE medical director and members of other disciplines in the care of sexual assault patients/li liProvides court testimony as needed/li liCollect and accurately report program and grant-related data./li liComplete other miscellaneous VOCA Grant, University, and program documentation as needed./li liCompletes other duties as specified and assigned./li /ul h3Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills/h3 Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in Nursing; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in Nursing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position also requires possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan. May require a Bachelor''s degree in Nursing and/or work experience in a particular area of nursing or health care. h3Desired Qualifications/h3 Desired Qualifications English language proficiency; bilingual desired though not required; Three years minimum registered nursing experience in a hands-on patient care capacity; Ability to plan and organize work autonomously; Excellent clinical assessment skills; Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness and good judgment in executing the roles and responsibilities of a nurse; Ability to work collaboratively with other clinicians and victim service responders; completion of 40 hour didactic SANE training approved by International Association of Forensic Nurses.
