h3Position Summary/h3 The Arora Lab in the Department of Obstetrics Gynecology and Reproductive Biology and the Institute for Quantitative Health Science and Engineering at Michigan State University is seeking a Research Assistant I who will assist in: maintaining animal colony and performing animal surgeries, qPCR for RNA expression; data analysis and scientific writing. Work in the lab focuses on understanding maternal-fetal interactions during early stages of embryonic development using classical developmental biology tools, mouse genetic mutants and 3- Dimensional uterine imaging (a href="http://obgyn.msu.edu/research/researchfaculty/ripla-arora-ph-d)"http://obgyn.msu.edu/research/researchfaculty/ripla-arora-ph-d)./a The lab also focuses on developing new tools to further developmental biology and reproductive biology research. Job duties include, but are not limited to, assisting in coordinating research operations; mouse colony management and mouse surgeries;and#160;processing tissue for RNA isolation; assist in gene expression analysis and compilation; immunofluorescence; histology followed by imaging and image analysis; calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment; and maintaining and updating laboratory protocols in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations. h3Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills/h3 Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Biological Sciences or other related science fields; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in standard laboratory procedures and safety requirements and performing analytical and research techniques in an area related to research being performed; may require software specific to the area of research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
