h3Working/Functional Title/h3 Deputy Director h3Position Summary/h3 The Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) seeks a Deputy Director to provide supervision and guidance to OIE investigators and staff. The Deputy Director is responsible for providing supervision and guidance to OIE investigators and staff, including Case Managers. The Deputy Director will assist the Director in updating and refining procedures for effectively responding to all complaints of discrimination, including Title VII and Title IX.#160; The Deputy Director reports to the Director of the Office of Institutional Equity. style="list-style-type: disc" liAssist the OIE Director in ensuring compliance with institutional equity policies and civil rights laws./li liUse independent judgement to provide guidance to, and supervision of, the investigation team. Ensure timely completion of investigations; review all reports for thoroughness and accuracy./li liConduct investigations when needed, including during times of high volume./li liAssist with oversight of case managers to ensure a prompt, equitable and caring response to parties./li liAssist the Director with the development, implementation, and monitoring of appropriate policies and procedures./li liAssist in collecting data and preparing and disseminating reports, statistics and assessment data regarding unit operations with respect to civil rights compliance./li liAssist in developing and maintaining a web presence that effectively communicates the functions of the office and provides useful and accurate information on university policies, grievance procedures, reporting options and related resources./li liAssist in the collection, preservation, and analysis of information related to reported incidents of harassment and discrimination to facilitate monitoring of the campus climate; track and provide information to the Director as requested./li liAssist in development of university-wide policies and procedures that further institutionalize civil rights efforts; assist in developing internal protocols to ensure consistency in the response and processing of reported incidents.#160;/li liMaintain proficiency with civil rights laws and new legal developments and evaluate the impact on university policies and procedures.#160;/li /ul h3Required Degree/h3 Other -Juris Doctorate h3Minimum Requirements/h3 style="list-style-type: disc" liJD or other advanced degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience at an institution of higher education or an equally complex organization./li liDemonstrated knowledge and ability to interpret civil rights laws and regulations.#160;#160;/li liStrong problem-solving, critical thinking, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills./li liDemonstrated strong attention to detail./li liDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations./li liProficiency with the Rehabilitation Act, VAWA, ELCRA, Title VII, and Title IX. Experience conducting civil rights investigations, including trauma-informed Title IX investigations. Demonstrated ability to successfully lead staff and effectively prioritize multiple projects. Adherence to deadlines and excellent written and verbal skills. High integrity and ethical standards. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to remain neutral. Ability to build consensus, collaborate and work with broad numbers of, and diverse, campus partners.
