Henry Ford Health System Principal Strategic Planning Analyst in Detroit, Michigan

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Principal Planning Analyst provides market and service line assessment support to identified key stakeholders within HFHS through market and competitive assessments, Certificate of Need, market research, data retrieval and analysis, and overall project management.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Environmental Assessment. Proactive monitoring of assigned Southeast Michigan market. Creates, distributes and/or presents in-depth market and competitor intelligence reports to key market stakeholders.

  • Database maintenance and support. Develops, maintains and utilizes planning and market information to support environmental assessments, business planning and strategic analysis.

  • a. Specific duties include: evaluating market segments along service lines and market; identifying market utilization trends; developing models to project future utilization.

  • Strategic Planning. Participates in the strategic planning process for identified HFHS business units/markets/service lines. Leads groups through planning process, coordinates group output and develops planning documents that reflect strategic priorities and objectives.

  • Certificate of Need. Planning Analyst develops in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements for covered services, provides consultation on CON requirements to system clients. Manages the preparation and submission of CON documents and establishes contacts within MDCH for project consultation.

  • Customer and Market Research. Participates in the design, implementation and analysis of internal and external market research projects. Develops reports of findings and communicates results to internal clients.

  • Data Retrieval and Analysis. Assembles and analyzes market data from various internal and external databases and sources. Creates analytical reports and presentations to support management decisions. Provides consultation and analytical support for system marketing efforts and operational product lines.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or related field.

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Five (5) years of experience of advanced proficiency with data retrieval and analysis, database management, and spreadsheet analysis.

  • Project management skills essential.

  • Five to seven (5-7) years of experience within a healthcare setting, preferred.

  • Experience with mapping software preferred.

  • One to two (1-2) years of Certificate of Need, Strategic Planning, and/or business plan development experience, preferred.
