Job Description

Job Title: Body Shop Maintenance Planner

Factory ZERO is currently seeking a motivated and accomplished Body Shop Maintenance Planner who will provide technical knowledge and planning support to the Body Shop maintenance department.

This position is 7th level lateral/promotional opportunity


As the Maintenance Planner, you are responsible for maintenance and repair of Body Shop equipment. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of Global Manufacturing System (GMS); focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE).


  • Promotes, educates, communicates and follows up on safety initiatives and culture

  • Responsible for preventative maintenance and diagnosis of equipment malfunctions, recommends solutions to problems, and meets schedule and quality requirements in addition to the following responsibilities

  • Develop cost and time estimate of planned maintenance work

  • Schedule maintenance work into production plan

  • Assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations

  • Continually improving planning, scheduling, data management and job reporting systems to increase planning effectiveness and efficiency

  • Manage budget and ensure cost control achieves budget needs

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with outside vendors for continuous improvement and issue resolution

  • Provide spare parts, maintenance & continuous improvement strategies to the plants operations teams

  • Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and effectively communicate problem resolution

  • Work with product & production teams in process supporting business plan S,P,Q,R,C,E goals

  • Demonstrate a leadership role in workplace safety systems, manufacturing processes, equipment, Engineering Change Notices (ECN's) & Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis

  • Support non-product portfolio (NPP) and Manufacturing Business Case (MBC) projects and strategic project planning

  • Fully implement and support terms of local and national labor agreements

  • Meet business metrics and continuously improve Maintenance Cycle Between Failure/Maintenance Time to Respond (MCBF/MTTR) using TIP (Throughput Improvement Plan)

  • Support and Lead implementation of GMS

  • Develop and execute training plan of employees



  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Mechanical, Electrical)

  • Minimum of 5 years of related maintenance experience

  • Experience with Body Shop processes and equipment

  • Project management and leadership skills

  • Highly developed knowledge of integration plant floor monitoring systems (PMC/PRT/WebTIP) &/or simulation techniques

  • Thorough knowledge of plant safety rules (i.e Lockout/PTP/SOPs)

  • Experience/knowledge of GM-Global Manufacturing System (GMS)

  • Highly developed oral & written communication skills

  • High level of interpersonal skills with sensitivity to other's points of view & to make contributions to the resolution of complex manufacturing problems

  • Demonstrated ability to listen to & support Team Members

  • Thorough understanding of planned and predictive maintenance and the maximo system


  • Experience with Teamcenter
