Job Overview

Qualifications

At Stellantis, we want to empower you to bring your best. That’s why we strive to create an environment where our core values of Innovation, Leadership, Passion, Cooperation, and Responsibility can thrive. At Stellantis, you’ll work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with people who exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit and work together as a team to continually think bigger and bolder.

What You’ll Do:The Transmission Calibration Engineer will be responsible playing an integral part for developing the customer driving experience as well as optimizing fuel economy. Key activities include developing and releasing transmission calibrations for automatic transmission applications, performing hands-on in-vehicle calibration development work, supporting test trips to verify proper transmission operation across operating conditions and other assigned powertrain development activities. This position will work with in-vehicle test instrumentation, ETAS-INCA calibration tools and mathematical analysis tools such as Matlab to meet objectives.

The Transmission Calibrator will be responsible for transmission clutch control and/or drive strategy calibration. The responsibilities include delivery of high quality calibrations from start to finish of new programs, developing and calibrating/validating new features, developing methodologies and tools to support analysis and verification, working with cross-functional teams to ensure that program requirements are met on time, as well as troubleshooting and developing solutions to issues as they occur.

The FWD transmission calibration group works out of the Chelsea Proving Grounds, which includes various testing tracks and facilities for vehicles. Trips to high altitude, hot conditions, and cold conditions are part of standard practice for transmission calibration engineers. The transmission calibration team is one of the last teams to put hands on a product prior to going to customers. As such, transmission calibration engineers tend to have some of the largest impact directly on the product, and usually very quickly. Projects frequently occur with a timeline in days or weeks rather than months or years. Having an instant and measurable impact on FCA products is all part of a typical work day.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, or automotive engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent program

  • A minimum of (1) one year of experience in automotive engineering

  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office

Preferred Qualifications:
