Title:Registered Nurse ICU

Position Type:Temp to Permanent Hire

Location:Bad Axe, MI

Rate:Starting at $36/hour

Reports to:Project Manager

Shift Type:Nights, 7pm-7:30am, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week; weekend requirements: every 3rdweekend; on call requirements: none

Job Summary:

Vighter is recruiting a contract Registered Nurse for the Intensive Care Unit with McLaren Thumb Region. The ICU RN constantly monitors patients with highly unstable physical conditions and therefore will only be responsible for one or two patients at a time. ICU nurses are highly skilled and have specific experience to rapidly assess a patient's condition and intervene with immediate attention as needed. Additionally, the critical care nurse must be able to provide emotional support to gravely ill patients and their families.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Evaluate and monitor the patients progress.

  • Identify sudden or subtle changes in a patients medical condition.

  • Deliver regular updates to doctors, patients, and their family members.

  • Begin treatment and monitor doses.

  • If necessary, respond to a medical emergency and alert the appropriate doctors.

  • Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in the ICU unit.

  • Complete all necessary paperwork before transferring a patient.

  • Maintain patient records.

  • Create and implement effective care plans.

Credentialing Requirements:

  • Current unrestricted Michigan license to practice as a registered nurseRequired

  • BLS certification (from American Heart Association)Required

  • ACLS certification (from American Heart Association)Required

  • PALSRequired

  • Shall not have been convicted of a felony

  • Shall be able to read, write, and speak English

  • Shall be able to operate a personal computer utilizing Microsoft applications, such as Explorer, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. so as to efficiently create and/or utilize an Electronic Medical Record

Education:

  • Evidence of graduation from baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program in nursing for registered nurse.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of ICU experienceRequired

  • Comfortable with IVs and VentsRequired

  • Med/Surg experiencePreferred

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Must be able to sit for more than 8 hours per day

  • Must be willing to work overtime if necessary

  • Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet

  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders

  • Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print

  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation

  • Must be able to pass a urine drug and nicotine screen
