The Auto Club Group Project Leader-Claims and Litigation Data Management in Anytown, Michigan

What you will do:

Coordinates and leads medium to large scale projects/project teams or a variety of small teams. Serves as a subject matter expert to senior leadership and team regarding, reporting, data analysis & management and project activities. Project focus typically involves developing and enhancing claims and litigation reporting, incorporating use of visualization or predictive reporting and/or development of analysis to facilitate data-driven decision making in the Claims and Litigation areas. Incorporates use of project management tools, including project plan, issues log, milestones, and other strategies. Meets with individuals from various lines of business and identifies data requirements. Analyzes and defines resource and skill requirements for projects. Arranges and leads project team meetings in order to identify project goals and objectives. Plans and coordinates activities of project teams. Provides guidance and direction to project team members to ensure the timely and accurate completion of tasks. Develops and utilizes metrics to monitor, and report project progress and results.

Ensures consistency and reliability in activities related to measuring, tracking and analyzing of data across the footprint. Performs data extractions from existing systems and/or prepares production reports/trend analyses for requesting department. Produces reporting to facilitate monitoring of goals and metrics, developing dashboards to drive data-driven decision making. Analyzes data in order to identify problems/trends and makes recommendations regarding improvement. Utilizes various tools to improve reporting/analytic outputs and data presentations. Meets with senior management to explain statistics, budgetary variances, etc. Functions as a liaison to various departments (e.g. Finance, Human Resources, Actuarial, etc.) regarding statistics/information or the coordination of large-scale projects. Confers with General Counsel regarding legal matters and associated reports and/or projects.

May research hardware/software products and work in conjunction with IT department regarding potential usage. May develop and/or modify data driven processes in order to improve departmental efficiencies. May assist in system implementations/updates, identification and correction of inappropriate data, etc. Performs ADHOC reporting as requested.

We’re looking for candidates who:

_Preferred Qualifications:_


  • Demonstrate strong experience in Tableau

  • Developing or using software to develop predictive models

  • Using of R, ACL, or other large data mining tools

Knowledge of:

  • Extensive knowledge of ACG Claims policies and procedures, terminology and processing systems

  • Corporate insurance systems (e.g. CPS, IPM)

  • Mainframe applications (.g. IMS, TSO, CICS, etc.)

  • Entrepreneurial mindset

  • Claims and/or claims litigation policy provisions, principles and concepts

  • Web site development and maintenance

  • Data Modeling for Six Sigma or other similar projects



_Required Qualifications:_



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems, Insurance or a related field, or equivalent experience


Experience:_ _

  • Analyzing data to identify trends and assess potential impact

  • Utilizing computer software applications (e.g. word, excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, MS project, visio, access) to format data bases, write queries, generate reports, etc.

  • Prioritizing work assignments

  • Coordinating and controlling major projects

  • Developing/implementing hardware and/or software applications

  • Designing/supporting business unit specifications

  • Utilizing programming languages (e.g. SAS, )

  • Analyzing and summarizing data with Tableau or similar tool

  • Achieving stated objectives within designated time frame

  • Business planning and consulting

  • Leading and coordinating the design and implementation of medium to large projects

  • Analyzing and defining resource and skill requirements for projects

  • Identifying, researching and resolving moderately complex to complex business problems

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of:

  • Budgetary processes

  • Computer software applications (word processing, spreadsheets, databases)

  • Techniques for monitoring goal achievement

Ability to:

  • Format and prepare written reports

  • Contribute a high level of expertise in content knowledge

  • Communicate effectively with others in a work environment and with the public

  • Explain statistics and budgetary variances to management personnel

  • Prepare and present recommendations to all levels of management

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to include report preparation and presentation of

major reports (sample may be required at time of interview)
