Department Summary As a member of the Business Services Facilities Engineering and Design Team you will work with in-house Architects and Engineers to design technical solutions to manage the corporation's electrical system assets.
Job Description/Responsibilities As a member of Consumers Energy Facilities Engineering and Design Team the position is responsible for engineering functions required to manage the corporation’s electrical system assets. This includes analysis and design of electrical systems, consulting troubleshooting, preparation and review of preventative maintenance procedures, electrical system inspections and assessments, drawing and specification preparation and reviews, and select construction management duties. The position also includes life cycle cost evaluations, new product evaluations, budgeting and scheduling activities, preparation and review of preventive maintenance procedures, preparation of annual objectives and work plans and other duties as related to business needs. The position requires travel to Consumers Energy’s facilities located throughout Michigan and occasional after-hours and weekend supervision of contractors and in-house employees.
NOTE: The reporting headquarters for this position is One Energy Plaza in Jackson, MI, preference will be given to a candidate who can work at this location. However we are willing to offer flexibility to work from another Service Center located within Michigan.
Eligible candidates must have a BSEE from an accredited university. A Michigan Professional Engineer license and experience in light industrial, commercial building systems and the National Electric Code is required.
LEED Accredited Professional and knowledge of AutoCAD are highly desirable.
Computer savvy is a must, being able to effectively use Microsoft Word, Projects, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Outlook. Position requires 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
The selected candidate needs experience in physical access control design and systems, physical access control hardware and door hardware knowledge.
